Drones and ATVs could deliver plague vaccines to prairie dogs | Science News
Plague can be a problem for prairie dogs and even bigger problem for the endangered black-footed ferrets that eat them. A new effort from USGS and USFWS aims to inoculate the prairie dogs using oral vaccines. Normally, plague vaccine baits might be delivered on foot — dropped by hand in the vicinity of prairie dog colonies. But drones and ATVs offer less labor-intensive options.
